WELCOME!
Dear Guest,
On behalf of Wild River Retreat, I would like to personally thank you for your interest in our retreat and ministry. God has blessed us with a thirty (30) acre
retreat located on the Hiwassee River in Charleston, TN. The retreat is divided into two parts, three (3) acres of mainland property and a twenty-seven
(27) acre island. Wild River Retreat was founded with the purpose to share Jesus Christ with the world. We strive to promote Christ and His Love in several ways,
which include a fun Christian – based destination for any organization or youth group, status as a non-profit organization, and devotion to the studying of God’s Word and Love.
First, Wild River Retreat is a fun Christian-based destination for anyone or any group. The retreat is fully equipped for overnight camping, day events, or a picnic
by the smooth flowing river. The mainland covered pavilion contains bathrooms, showers, a kitchen, sitting area with tables, and river amenities. The retreat has a dock with a great place to swim, fish, canoe, or watch the wildlife running about. Wild River Retreat also has a ninety (90) foot slide that ends with a splash into the Hiwassee River. In addition, the retreat contains a pole ferry that offers transportation across the Hiwassee River to the large island. The pole ferry is capable of chauffeuring large groups of guests or vehicles, such as RVs and trucks. On the island, guests can enjoy several activities, such as a hike through the fields or along the river, over night camping, or blanket picnics.
Currently, Wild River Retreat is a government classified non-profit organization. Therefore, we are able to allow guest to use the premises free of charge. However, Wild River Retreat does ask that each guest and group observe “Tabernacle Time.” “Tabernacle Time” is a tithe of your time. We ask for every one (1) hour of activities on the premises, each individual participates in a ten (10) minute Bible study to Christ. The designation of “Tabernacle Time” is up to the group leaders. In the past, leaders have chosen to conduct mini- Bible studies of ten (10) minutes after every hour, while others have selected a thirty (30) minute Bible study after three (3) hours. The length and time of the Bible study is to be selected by the group leader, as long as it is equivalent to ten (10) minutes for every one (1) hour.
If you or your group would like to make a donation to Wild River Retreat, there are two easy ways to contribute. Donations may be placed in the donation box located in the mainland pavilion or mailed to Wild River Retreat 1865 Dry Valley Road Cleveland TN 37312. Each donation is used for the maintenance and growth of the retreat.
Furthermore, Wild River Retreat is devoted to the study and promotion of God’s Word and Love. As stated before, we encourage each group and camper to develop a closer relationship with Christ through “Tabernacle Time.” We also promote Christ-like conduct and behavior to be demonstrated while on the premises. If we can assist you with the promotion of these Christian principles, please ask and we will do what we are capable of.
Please download our waivers for each person in your group and have them signed before arriving. There must be a signed waiver for each person in your group.
To conclude, Wild River Retreat is excited that God has given us the privilege of this thirty (30) acre Christian retreat, so we can share it with you and your
group. Wild River Retreat has a great atmosphere to promote Christ and group activities in a casual comfortable way. We are able to offer these premises to all visitors at no monetary cost, because of our great supporters that give generous donations and support. If you would like to become a supporter, please
contact us. However, we ask that you and your group observe “Tabernacle Time.”
Wild River Retreat is honored that you have considered our facilities . We hope that you enjoy the
amenities and attractions on the retreat, and remember to have fun growing closer to Christ!
